Hillcrest is to San Diego
as Chelsea is to New York. Hillcrest is a diverse community with
a large gay, liberal, and eclectic population. As with any hip neighborhood
Hillcrest also has the best restaurants, Coffee Shops and Unique
Retail stores of San Diego.
Because of all the great
things this community has to offer the real estate sales and apartment
markets have been on the rise here for some time. Hillcrest still
has the feel of an old California neighborhood, and the apartments
or bungalows have more personality than the cookie cutter complex's
now filling most of San Diego. With this personality comes an apartment
trade off, most of the apartments do not have dishwashers, pools,
weight rooms, or volley ball courts. You are paying for the lifestyle
and loose out on the apartment amenities.
Hillcrest is close to
everything. Balboa Park, Downtown San Diego, and the 163 fwy is
right through the center of town. With easy access
.
Hillcrest is
practically the geographic center of the city of San Diego.
Located in the Uptown District, north of downtown, Hillcrest
is more like a village than an urban center. Hillcrest has
great bus access and you can walk to just about anything
you need. Parking is a definite problem depending on the
block so make sure you arrange off-street parking or a street-parking
permit for your apartment or house rental.
